ELHAM METHODIST CHURCH

The Methodist Church has been part of Elham since the start of the nineteenth century when the influence of the Revd. John Wesley had led to groups of Christians meeting in classes to share their understanding of the work of Christ in all believers.  At one time there were at least two Methodist Chapels in Elham, the present one was erected in in 1839, after what is now the adjoining Hall became too small for the congregation.

Services are held each Sunday at 9.30 a.m. and all are welcome to attend.  The fortnightly opportunity for Bible Study takes place each Wednesday at 7.00 p.m. in the Hall and is known as "Meeting Point".  The Friday Fellowship meets fortnightly at 7.30 p.m. when a series of talks is planned each year throughout the Autumn, Winter and Spring. Ecumenical Prayer Breakfasts are held on some Saturdays at 8.00 a.m. with opportunity to share in prayer before having breakfast together at 8.30 a.m.

Working Together with other Christians
Throughout Lent the Churches share in hosting joint opportunities for Bible Study and discussion.  Hunger Lunches are also held in the Hall during Lent on Wednesdays 12.30 - 1.30 p.m.  Joint celebrations and services take place at Christmas, Holy Week (with a Good Friday Procession), Harvest and Remembrance.  These take place in either the Methodist or Anglican Church in Elham. "Elham Rejoice" is a special annual ecumenical service held in the Village Hall.  All these are features of our desire to work in cooperation with other local Christians.
