STEWARDSHIP
"Stewardship is the primary work of the church." Stewardship is an element of our Christian faith drawn from Biblical teachings about giving ourselves over to God's call to us. The principles of stewardship are twofold:
to care faithfully and responsibly for all that has been entrusted to us,
and - to express our appreciation for all God has given us by giving back a portion in joy thanksgiving and willing sacrifice.
Stewardship is the hands and feet of our Christian faith. It is how we put our baptismal promises into action in service to God and each other. A definition is "Everything we do with everything we have after we say 'I believe.'"
Although we realise that not everyone can offer large amounts of money - IT COSTS ABOUT £1200 per week to maintain our church and its services – we ask that all local Anglicans will give generously of their time and talents as well as their money.
How do I pledge?
Like many churches, Elham parish undertakes an annual pledge campaign in the Autumn of each year. Stewardship information is made available to all parishioners at that time. But you can DO IT NOW by completing the form below. Making a pledge is not at all limited just to the Autumn! New pledges are welcomed at any time.
Stewardship Pledge forms are also available from Church or from Jean Anderson (gift aid Secretary) Tel: 01303 840 638 or e-mail: jeanelham@aol.com
You can also give regularly through a Banker's Order or through the parish envelope scheme.
As faithful stewards, we are called to give of ourselves from a place of deep, passionate love. It is our abundant response to God's abundant love for us. It is following the example set by God. Our Lord God loved each of us so much that he even gave his own, beloved son.
Through joyful stewardship, we express our love of both God and one another. Giving of our means and talents expresses to God our deep gratitude for having received those gifts. Putting our resources and abilities to work for the people of God demonstrates our love and oneness with them. What greater satisfaction could we hope for than to know that our gifts of treasure and of self are at work in the service of God’s people?
